None-EEA employees wishing to pursue salaried employment in Belgium, must be holders of a work/single permit. Some categories of employees are exempted from the obligation of obtaining a work permit.

Non-EEA employees who want to pursue salaried employment in a highly qualified job (with an annual gross salary of > 51.882 EUR) can submit for a European Blue Card.

Non-EEA nationals wishing to exercise a self-employed professional activity must be holders of a professional card. A certain number of categories of foreigners working in a self-employed capacity are exempted from the requirement to possess a professional card.
