Draft bill on supplementary pensions abolishes 1 year vesting period and waiting period until age of 25

A draft bill of 8 May 2018 on supplementary pensions abolishes the possibility to foresee a 1 year vesting period of active membership of a scheme in order to trigger entitlement to the accumulated supplementary pension rights. It also prohibits to include a waiting period (i.e. a period of employment required by the rules of a supplementary pension scheme before a worker becomes eligible for membership of a scheme). The latter implies that the currently allowed waiting period until the age of 25 thus disappears. The draft bill is a further implementation of Directive 2014/50/EU of 16 April 2014 on minimum requirements for enhancing worker mobility between Member States by improving the acquisition and preservation of supplementary pension rights. ■
