Additional penalties in case of non-compliance with procedure on reintegration of incapacitated employees
Last Friday, Belgian government reportedly reached an agreement on introducing additional penalties in case of non-compliance with the procedure on reintegration of incapacitated employees. This procedure was introduced end of 2016 to facilitate incapacitated employees resuming work. Employers not complying with the procedure would face additional financial penalties, whereas employees not fulfilling their obligations would lose part of or their entire allowance. Legislative texts are now being prepared. Government is determined to decrease costs of allowances paid by it to incapacitated employees. These reportedly increased to 7 billion euros, even exceeding those of unemployment allowances. ■
